Julia Shneyderman
Somatic Practitioner, Yoga Teacher, Coach
I am here to help you feel more whole and to thrive in the messy nature of life. I teach Somatic Yoga classes. These classes are not conventional yoga, but combine yoga, breathwork and somatic principles into simple trauma informed practices. In class, we are focused on slowing down and tuning into our moment-by-moment felt experience.
I serendipitously found my way to a yoga class at age 16 with no awareness that the crippling anxiety and shame I carried was mendable or that it was abnormal. It was the first time I clearly remember feeling safety and a sense of relief.
After finishing grad school in 2018 to become a dentist, I completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2020 with The Studio Cleveland. Introducing others to this practice that changed my life brought me great joy.
In 2023 I earned a life coach certification in order to be able to work with individuals more closely. My focus as a coach is supporting highly sensitive, anxious perfectionists in dropping all of the societal conditioning, shame, and unhelpful stories.
But of course I’ve learned that it’s not so simple as to drop your old self and become a brand new improved one. That is not the path to wholeness, just a great load of frustration. In 2024 I dove deeper into the study of somatics, completing a training to become a functional somatic practitioner. This knowledge of the interplay between our felt sense, autonomic nervous system and external environment has widened my tool box for how to navigate the inevitable challenges of being human. I now approach healing from the lens of not only aspirational growth, but also patiently tending to the wounded parts of us, and not needing trauma healing to be perfect or timely.
