Alexis Albro

Trauma-Informed Coach

Survivors deserve to feel seen and heard exactly as they are, as well as who they want to be.  I live life with a mission of helping survivors build a sustainable life after trauma.  I am an advocate for ending violence against women and my primary focus is on sexual violence, but I have experience working with survivors of all different types of trauma.  My desire to inspire healing and build survivor-centered spaces led me to become a Certified Trauma-Informed Coach through the International Coaching Federation.

I have also completed a 45-hour trauma-informed yoga certification program and I am an instructor in the Cleveland Municipal School District.  Outside of coaching and yoga, I am also a speaker and have primarily presented on sexual violence, re-traumatization prevention, human trafficking, holistic healing, sexual assault, sexual abuse, addiction and sextortion.  Each experience and role has allowed me to better understand how trauma impacts the mind and body.  I am passionate about helping others come back home to their body and feel empowered to heal, in their own unique way.

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I am trained to recognize when trauma may be present and the symptoms that may arise.  I do not treat or diagnose, but the awareness of distress and dysregulation allows me to create spaces that cultivate a felt sense of safety.  I am so passionate about creating safe and non-judgmental spaces for clients to engage in community.  I believe that healing has to be holistic to be sustainable because humans are complex, trauma is complex, and healing has to be complex.

I am also a deep believer in mindfulness, breathwork, visualization, nervous system regulation, and somatic experiencing.  My own personal journey from surviving to thriving has led me to embody the healing powers of yoga, psychoeducation, community, and visualization and am so honored to share that with this community as well.  Whether you are just dipping your toes into the healing journey, expanding your current support system, or looking to thrive in new ways, I’d love to support you on your journey.

12-Week Survivor to Thriver Support Group, 90 minutes, 6 sessions, $45 per session

Survivors of trauma, in the broadest definition of the word, share the experience of navigating their lives in the aftermath of a life-changing event(s). Survivors may have a range of body-based symptoms, long after the trauma occurred. Bodily sensations associated with trauma can overwhelm the nervous system, which can create a lack of safety. Trauma permeates all aspects of one’s lived experiences: physical, psychological, mental, behavioral, social, and spiritual. A trauma-informed support system and mindfulness practices offer modalities to help heal the whole person.

This 12-week cohort is designed to empower students to release trapped psychological and physical energies and come back home to their bodies. This closed survivor community is coupled with light movement and supports participants to feel more grounded and balanced, while focusing on natural breathing to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and embodiment.

Survivors and thrivers are invited to channel quiet awareness and presence, find stability and safety in the body, and cultivate resilience. The topics of conversation and cultivated space are thoughtfully crafted to help support the healing process, create optimal balance of the nervous system, and lessen the grip that past experiences of trauma may have on the heart.
