Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Transforming Mental Wellness with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (also called ketamine-assisted therapy or KAP) is a unique therapeutic method that has helped people find relief where other forms of mental health care have fallen short. If you are struggling with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), you may be a candidate to explore the growth and healing potential of ketamine assisted therapy. Our therapists at Stella Luna are able to offer in-person therapy from our office in Middleburg Heights, or telehealth sessions for individuals undergoing Ketamine treatment in the state of Ohio.
The Benefits of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Rapid Relief from Symptoms
Unlike many conventional antidepressants that can take weeks to show effects, KAP often provides relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety & PTSD within hours to days.
Effective in Treatment-Resistant Conditions
KAP is particularly beneficial for individuals with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and other hard-to-treat mental health disorders, offering hope to those who have not responded to other therapies.
Enhanced Neuroplasticity
Ketamine is known to promote neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new neural connections. This can lead to more flexible and adaptive thinking patterns, which are essential in overcoming mental health challenges.
Supportive Therapeutic Environment
KAP combines the pharmacological benefits of ketamine with the support of psychotherapy, creating a holistic approach that addresses both the emotional and psychological aspects of healing.
Reduction in Suicidal Ideation
Studies have shown that ketamine can significantly reduce suicidal thoughts, offering a potentially life-saving intervention for those at risk.
Potential for Lasting Change
The integration sessions that follow the ketamine experience help solidify insights gained during the therapy, leading to long-term improvements in mental health and well-being.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy: Transforming Mental Wellness
Ketamine, traditionally an anesthetic, has gained attention for its therapeutic benefits in mental health. It is used in ketamine assisted therapy to address conditions like treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Below are the key components of our KAP program, each tailored to meet your specific needs and help you achieve the best possible outcomes.
Preparation Sessions
Clients and therapists will discuss expectations, goals, and intentions for their course of treatment. Therapists will educate patients about ketamine assisted therapy, and help plan for their experience through the emphasis of ‘set and setting.’
Experiential Sessions
- Assisting in somatic grounding/mindfulness practice
- Supporting clients through challenging moments in the mind-body experience
- Notetaking on behalf of the client to record insights
- Integrating insights occurring in the present moment
Integration Sessions
Fostering ongoing growth, integration sessions allow clients to process insights from ketamine experiences, capitalizing on the potent therapeutic window after the experiential session. Therapists support clients with actualizing intentions, exploring practices for further growth and expansion between sessions. Examples of these practices can include journaling, engagement in creative endeavors, and implementation of adaptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
