About Mary

Hello, I’m Mary. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Art Therapist, and Registered Yoga
Teacher. I believe healing from trauma involves the whole person—mind, body, and nervous
system—because all three are deeply connected and shaped by our lived experiences.

As a counselor, I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach that honors who you are, where
you come from, and what you carry. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and committed to multicultural
sensitivity, always viewing you through a biopsychosocial lens that considers the full context of
your life. In our work together, I draw from person-centered therapy, CBT, existential and Gestalt
approaches, and mindfulness practices to support insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful,
sustainable change. My intention is to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and
empowered to move at a pace that feels right for you.

As an art therapist, I blend Jungian and somatic approaches. Inspired by Carl Jung’s belief that
creativity helps us access both the conscious and unconscious mind, I invite you to explore the
images, symbols, dreams, and patterns that naturally emerge in your artwork as a way of
deepening self-understanding. I also incorporate somatic (body-based) art therapy, recognizing
that the body often speaks before the mind. Through gentle creative movement and
sensation—whether that looks like loose scribbles, shaping clay, or anything in between—we
support release, grounding, and nervous system regulation.

I know therapy can feel intimidating—and making art can feel even scarier. But I encourage you
to use creativity as a compassionate pathway for emotional processing and meaning-making,
especially when words don’t quite capture what you’re feeling. And truly, no art skills are
preferred. This isn’t art class, and we’re definitely not painting Mona Lisas. We’re exploring real
experiences and real emotions—so it’s not meant to be pretty. It’s meant to be honest.

I work with adults navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders,
and I also have experience supporting children and adolescents with trauma histories and
neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive needs.

My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, and I’m here to
support you exactly where you are on your healing journey.
