Day of Rest
It’s often easy to forget or even forgo our own health and contentment. This is why things like National Relaxation Day, August 15th, are perfect opportunities to prioritize your well-being. Whether you’re a fan of being pampered or you prefer self-care, everyone needs to take time and celebrate and revel in some well-earned peace.
While there are many ways everyone can dial in their relaxation, we present a few suggestions to get the most out of this special day:
Indulge in Relaxing Spa Treatments
On National Relaxation Day, treat yourself to indulgent spa treatments designed to melt away stress and tension. Whether it’s a dip in a float therapy pod, a Reiki session, or taking in a sound bath, these services offer not only a wonderful escape from the day-to-day but over time, the good that you do with those services builds up, allowing you to maintain the relaxation and good feeling for longer.
Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness practices work for relaxation because they teach us to stay in the moment, do what’s in front of us with the utmost concentration, and then move on. We can’t change the past and the future is unknown. By staying alert to the flow of the present, we can eliminate anxiety, depressed feelings, and focus problems before they start. This creates a relaxed state even while doing other tasks. The more you practice the easier it becomes to get to and maintain.
These practices pair wonderfully with anything else on this list. Performing correct mindfulness during a spa treatment enhances the effects of the treatment. Correct mindfulness during wellness activities is a huge reason many of those activities were created to begin with, so you get more out of each training session.
Enjoy Wellness Activities
Engage in gentle Yoga poses, stretching exercises, even Tai Chi to release tension from your body and promote flexibility and stability. While performing activities might seem counterintuitive for a day dedicated to relaxation, there are many practices that help teach relaxation, how to physically function more efficiently, and contribute to a calm, focused, mind. Learning proper ways to manage posture, movement, and breathing contributes to relaxation. This is because the body is more efficient, thus reducing fatigue and allowing it to heal more rapidly and thoroughly.
Disconnect from Technology
Take a break from screens and digital devices. This will help to reduce mental clutter and, therefore, enhance relaxation. Use National Relaxation Day as an opportunity to disconnect from technology and engage in offline activities that nourish your spirit.
